Jan. 1st, 2008

old-school, vintage, rose

hello 2008.

Without much fanfare, we embraced each other lightly as we silently counted down to the last few seconds of 2007. We made a simple promise to each other too; to meet up for NYE every year.
Caught in the stream of passing history, this new year's eve and new year's day was different from the past few ones I had.
Not that I do not enjoy huge social gatherings, but with all the mingling around, priming looks to be photo ready,  it makes me feeling so fatigue!
Neither am a fan of sardine-packed crowds.

With one of my closest friends leaving and not coming back till 9 months later in Sept2008, and another leaving for a new chapter in Feb, I decided to hold a small cozy gathering at my place, for the people whom I know are my truest friends, no matter what happens in this transient world.

We just chilled out beside the poolside, with a bowl of graphs/starfruit/persimmons and cups of cold chin-chow... just in our tanktops and shorts; we're happy and satisfied like that. After Fong left for church service, we had dinner specially prepared by my dad, before walking over to BPP's Starbucks to countdown to a new year. We reflected, we shared, we gave thanks, we saw how much we grew and how much there is still for us to grow. I am especially thankful for their company.

Well, new year's day being a convenient benchmark for taking stock... While I am slightly cheesed that I actually answered the following questions (because it feels like an job application interview and it got abeeet mind-boggling at times), I feel that it's the best way to reflect with a grateful heart that 2007 has more high points amidst the lows.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE.
